Weila. I'm Enkk, an Italian dude who does things. I'm a PhD in Computer Science and a streamer on Twitch. But this page is not about me, it's about Sandra.
My plant.
She used to have an Twitter account in which she posted her pictures and then commented on some daily news... Sadly, that is no more. Sandra's freedom of speech has been censored due to the changes in Twitter APIs (thanks Elon!) and then she was banned from Twitter. Now the account is unblocked, but she is too scared to post ever again.
Since February 2024 she is now just posting her pictures on a Instagram.
Who is Sandra?
Sandra is my plant. Specifically, she is a Beucarnea Recurvata, originally from Mexico. She is a gift from my brother and I'm taking good care of her, even tho she doesn't need much attention.
Why is she on Instagram?
Plants, just like humans, like to be seen.
Everyday a Raspberry Pi snaps a picture of Sandra and saves it. Then every week, month and year a timelapse is created and posted into her instagram feed.
This is how the Raspberry is very firmly installed to a wood thing I made:
As you can see, since the Rasp is often exposed to the sun, I added proper ventilation. I'm kidding. After noticing the temperatures where going to almost 80 C°, I improved the setup:
I switched the camera module for a webcam which is easier to position (and provides better quality pictures). I also added proper ventilation.
